Tales from Tilford in Asia
I'm in Hong Kong now. Super hot and muggy. 90% humidity and upper 80's. Racing this afternoon. 50 mile criterium by the airport. Supposed to rain, so this should be interesting at least. This Asian guys don't corner very well. But, they Do pedal there bikes good. It is pretty suprising how fast they can go on the flats and in the wind. A team from Hong Kong, together with a Mongolian team chased down a break that was up the rode over a minute and they were never going under 50 kph. It is kind of weird. Flew all day from Shanghai to Hong Kong yesterday. Lots of siting around time. Big production. Race wish, I'm getting smeared. Not really smeared, but I have been falling apart pretty much the last hour of each of the first two races. I've had some stomach issues. And sleep issues, too. I think the stomach issues might of been food related. The same food 3 times a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fish, pickled vegetables and fried rice. Now is Hong Kong, it's more normal. Lots of fruit, bakery items, etc. This Dutch guy riding with me, Lex, is in 4th overall. Hopefully, he can move up at least one place. Maybe, more. He's riding well. Ok. Hopefully, things will be going better the next two races. If not, it's still be super enjoyable. See you next weekend. Steve
