Hot cocoa hookup!
We are open today and our friends at Starbucks down the street hooked us up with a bunch of hot cocoa. So if you want to get some shopping done while everyone else is couped up behind their desks at work, swing by and hang out with us! There's always something going on here (and we still have power so our heaters are working VERY well)! Feel free to bring your bike so we can watch you pull donuts in the parking lot.

Coffee ride
Due to randomly perfect weather, our trainer session for tomorrow (Sunday, Nov. 26) morning is cancelled. We're making the best of this drastic climate change by taking our bikes OUTSIDE. Meet us at Kaldi's in Kirkwood at 8am for a group ride around town. It will be an easy ride at a moderate pace for about 2 hours. Bring money for coffee and muffins!

Monthly Maintenance Schedule Changed
We are glad to announce a time change in our monthly maintenance schedule.
Instead of being the first WEDNESDAY of the month at 6PM, we have changed our maintenance class to every first SATURDAY of the month at 9:30AM.
This class is free and open to all riders of all kinds - mountain, road, hybrid, recumbent, etc. The class usually runs for a little over an hour and includes flat tire repair, cleaning and lubing your bike, and a guideline of how to perform a quick safety check on your bike before you ride. We will have a short Q & A afterwards also.
Bring your friends and your front wheel if you can! If not, we have plenty of spare wheels for you to practice on.
The first class will be December 2nd; see you then!

Super SUPER Light (SSL)
Weighing in at merely 14.8 lbs. is the newest member of the Trek St. Louis Family - the 2007 Trek Madone SSL 6.9. It's made of the new High Modulus OCLV carbon and comes with some sweet OCLV carbon wheels. This one found a home, but there are plenty more looking for a place to stay. (Make sure you wipe off the drool on your keyboard.)

It's Coming!!!
We've been searching the globe for a new brand of mountain bikes to compliment Fisher and Trek's already stacked line of off-road machines. Actually we didn't find a new brand at all. We found an original. Allow us to introduce Yeti Cycles as the newest member of the Trek Store family. Yeti has as deep a tradition in mountain biking as any company around and we welcome them with open arms. John Tomac, Juliana Furtado, Missy Giove, Myles Rockwell, Jimmy Deation and many others got their start racing for John Parkers Durango based company. Now located on the front range in Golden, Colorado, they make some of the best bikes in the world. Yeti's history section on their website might still be under construction, but click on the photo below to take a tour of the factory.Bikes will be in the store soon. We'll keep you posted.

St. Louis Variety Club Bikes For Kids '06!
Greg and I made a visit to Rams' Park last weekend to help out the St. Louis Variety Club. They donated over 250 children's bikes to various organizations and the kids were more than thrilled! Greg, myself, and TONS of volunteers spent countless hours building bikes and checking them once over for safety.
Look out for this event next year. If you work with an organization and would like to be involved either by volunteering your time, or receiving bikes for children, shoot me an email - Jessica@trekstl.com.

New Winter Clothing
Whether you are riding in the fall and/or the winter seasons, we have the layers you need. Our full Nike, Craft, and Pearl Izumi line will keep you safe from wind, rain, and cold climates. These are great for Missouri, up north, over east, mountains, or flat lands.
The women's Nike Soft-Shell Jacket is made with Clima-FIT fabric for optimal breathability, weather-resistant exterior, zip-off sleeves, bright blue color, and reflective lining.
The men's Pearl Izumi Gavia bib tight is made with AmFIB material for wind and water protection, especially over the shin area. It comes with Pearl's 3D Pro chamois and includes silver ions to prevent microbial build-up (similar to Trek's active wear shirts). All around, this bib is the best tight for all cold conditions.
These are just a couple of items to discuss. Come by and see our collection, and by all means, TRY THEM ON!

Bike Rodeo Extravaganza!
Thanks to the College School of Webster Groves for letting me stop by to discuss bicycle safety, mechanics, and enthusiasm! I had a great time and it was a pleasure meeting all of you. Keep commuting and stay safe!
In honor of our BIKE RODEO this Saturday (info to the right of your screen), here is a video reminding you to wear your helmet and to not drink and ride. I would suggest bringing your kids' bikes and helmets on Saturday to make sure when this happens, they stay unharmed:

Commuting contest - only the strong surive!
Alright. I have a challenge for you. Most of our employees commute to work daily and everyone thinks we're super strong machines especially wired unlike any human being...WRONG! We are every day riders like the rest of you, with aches and pains, good days and bad days, riding in heat and wind.
We're starting a commuting contest here at the shop for employees and customers. It starts September 11th and ends October 16th. All you need to do is ride to either work or school each day you are required to go, count how many times you ride your bike to your destination, and let us know each Monday so we can write it on the big board at the front of the store. We are not counting by mileage, and rather are counting by days travelled in percentage form. That way, someone who rides only 10 miles a day - 4 to 5 days out of the week is not penalized by someone else who rides 30 miles a day - 6 days a week. Capisci?
You don't have fenders? You need slick tires? No flat repair kit? Ah...I understand...good thing we carry everything you need to commute! Come by and we'll help you get on your way!
Prizes? Heck ya! The top 5 commuters win some super awesome prizes that we are not going to tell you about until we get closer to the end. Some sweet plans are in the works.
Call the shop at (636) 394-2453 or email me (Jessica) and we'll get you on the board!

Kids triathlon a HUGE success!!!
The 1st Annual Parkway Central Age Group Triathlon was a huge success! Props to Kevin Mabie for putting it all together. Kids from ages 6-18 participated and had a blast amidst the rainy weather. I was personally amazed to see such dedicated and athletic kids. It was an honor for our shop to sponsor the race and we can't wait to do it again!
I've had a few parents contact me about their children joining our Multi-Sport Club. If anyone else is interested, shoot me an email at Jessica@trekstl.com and I can fill you in! Our next club meeting is Monday, September 11th at 8pm here at the shop so hurry up before the meeting comes around!

Trek World Update - Celebrity Status
The first crew met some rockin' celebrities at Trek World - Bob Roll, Zap, Chrissy and Chris from the Women's Demo Crew, Dave Mirra, and Gary Fisher. I had the brilliant opportunity to mountain bike ride with Gary (on a Genesister full suspension of course). Thanks Gary!
You may be wondering why Dave Mirra was at a Trek convention...well, Trek has thrown Mirra Co. in the lineup. His new BMX line is definitely going to shock you. He even has kid sizes with aluminum frames so it's easier for the little guys to pop those tricks.
