Tour of Missouri - St. Louis Recap

Disco train:

WOW! What a blast! Our crew watched a few sprints at the sprint line and cheered on Discovery. I can still remember the look on Levi's face when he saw how many Trek St. Louis/Kansas City people were there cheering him on as he first came through...

A few other celebrities were watching the race and also presenting awards to the winners afterwards. St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay was one of them...

I spoke with my good friend, Brad Huff, at the after party and found out how bad his crash was at the finish. He landed on his head, feet in the air, and is actually quite alright. He has a few scratches and is sore, but no broken bones and his vertebrae is still connected. Wow, heal up well Brad!

2nd Annual Trek Breast Cancer Awareness Ride!

If you did not already know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For the 2nd year in a row, Trek is sponsoring a National Breast Cancer Awareness Ride on October 13th. Many Trek stores throughout the country are hosting this ride at the same time and will raise thousands of dollars to help find a cure. The Trek Store of St. Louis is hosting this ride for the 2nd year and invite all riders to join us; whether you have a mountain bike, hybrid, fixed gear, tri bike, road bike, recumbent, or even a unicycle, we want you on this ride. We are planning different routes to incorporate all types of riders and bikes. We will have a sag wagon for at least one route. Men, women, and children are all encouraged to attend.

There is a registration fee and all of the money goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. You can still make a donation if you are unable to join us on the ride. To do so, register online and then send me a note/call the shop saying you will not make it to the ride. Trek has developed a website to help promote the ride and your participation which links directly to Active.com for online registration http://www.bcar2007.santu.com/. The first 25 pre-registered riders receive custom full-finger gloves on the day of the ride. All participants receive fun shwag (t-shirts, water bottles, etc.) and can also enter to win 2-custom Lime Bikes, 5 Pink Saris Bone Bike Racks, 2 Bissell Healthy Home Vacuums, 1 Bissell SpotBot Pet.

So, mark your calendars to participate in this fulfilling and exciting event. The fall colors will be blooming and the weather will be perfect for riding. We will have a post-ride party in the shop afterwards with coffee and pastries, as well as give-a-ways and raffles. Feel free to email me back with any questions you have.
Saturday, October 13th @ 10am. Trek Store of St. Louis.

It's Chrome baby!

School has started up again and you need a fresh new bag to sport around campus, right? We have the bag for you. Have you ever heard of Chrome bags? If not, check out their products at www.chromebags.com. We have a GREAT selection of bags in the shop, so come by and see all of the options.

These bags are waterproof with MANY pockets and plenty of space, flashy colors, an area to place your favorite stickers (or write love messages for your crush to see as you ride by), and a perfect fit around your back and chest no matter how big or small you are. These are the best fitting bags on the market, hands down. We also carry the light-weight and heavy-weight Chrome knickers, laptop cases, and cell phone holders. Now there is no excuse for "forgetting" your books at home!

1 World - 2 Wheels

Last week at Trek World in Madison, Trek unveiled their global initiative to fight some of the today's toughest obstacles: pollution, global warming, and obesity (adult and sadly childhood as well). Trek has pledged a minimum of $1,600,000 annually to organizations such as IMBA and Bikes Belong to build more trails and help raise awareness on the benefits of riding bikes.
1 World - 2 Wheels: A TREK Commitment, will give everyone a real opportunity to re-evaluate the way they live their lives and hopefully make a change for the better. From finding Safe Routes to School for kids, to helping communities become more bike friendly, Trek's commitment to change the world could do just that.

Missouri State Champ!

I feel really weird typing a blog about myself on here...so I'm handing the reins over to Geoff. Go for it, buddy.

Thanks Jess! And congrats on your championship race!

So two weekends ago the Missouri State Criterium Championship Race was held in Jefferson City. We had two racers from the shop show up ready to race. Greg Lyeki raced in the Category 4 race, coming in 3rd! The other racer was Jessica Meyer. Jessica raced in the women's open race, taking first prize and the Missouri State Criterium Champion's jersey. These two will be getting ready for Gateway Cup with the rest of the Manchester Racing Club. That race is going to be running labor day weekend. There will be four races that weekend. Check out the gateway cup website for more information. Two races to go before then, so when you see any of the racers in the store give them a pat on the back! And be sure to come out and support us on labor day!

Around the world with J Rae

Bikes bikes bikes are everywhere! I just returned from Italy and England with many photos of bicycles. The Italians love their cruisers and road bikes, and the English love all types of bikes. I saw many Treks, Lemonds, and Gary Fishers in England, especially in London.

Here are a few photos I snapped. The last two are from the Tour Prologue held in London this year; I was in Hyde Park. The first is of Robbie McEwen and the second is of a Discovery member.

Custom Road and Mountain Shoes Now Available!

Introducing the new Shimano R-300 road shoes, as well as the M-300 mountain bike shoe. They feature moldable uppers that form to your foot for a custom fit. Ultra rigid, lightweight soles transfer your energy straight to the pedals, and allow for compliance and grip for hiking sections. Moldable insole forms to foot for a precise fit, but custom orthotics can be used during the fit process. The insoles improve fit and increase shoe to pedal stability . Micro-adjust buckle and dual offset straps, securely stabilize foot and allows for subtle adjustments. Offset straps prevent pressure points to the foot. Anti-slip heel lining, prevents heel lift. Wide type is available with roomier toe box. These shoes are flying off the shelves.

The custom fit process takes about an hour, and appointments are recommended. These will be the best shoes that you have ever worn, or will ever wear. So come in look at the shoes, try them on, and see for yourself that these are truly the best shoes in the world.
